  1. Hey, I was reading your cancer cosmetics article and WOW btw. I was wondering tho I use clinique and johnsons for my face care and loreal and sometimes alabasto for my hair. I was wondering these were big brands that you came across during your research? do they have the cancer bug? really hoping they dont coz like you, I spent moneys :(

  2. Whats your opinion on fake tan and skin lighteners? Do you use them or should they be avoided?

  4. Thank you for your question. At the moment there aren't any long term tests to determine the side effects of Fake tanning over a period of time, however it is much safer than getting a tan from the sun.

As for skin lighteners, those are a no no. Most skin bleaching creams contain Hydroquinone, which has some speculated links to skin cancer as there are some tests that show it to act like a carcinogen (cancer triggering substance).

Hydroquinone also has been linked with the medical condition known as ochronosis in which the skin becomes dark and thick.

Products containing Hydroquinone are actually banned from the UK and some other countries, however some Beauty Care shops still manage to smuggle it into the country and sell them over the counter.

As for your products, since there are a huge range of products under then name of those brands, I would suggest looking at the ingredients of the ones you have already and matching them up with the names in the article. Spot one or more? Bin it.(There's usually more than one in a single product anyway) And remember, some are much more potent than others and some such as anything containing DEA, TEA or MEA shouldn't be used full stop, bin 'em.

  5. Great site! I was just wondering if you guys have any advice/recommendations for natural stuff to use on dry skin? My skin gets really sore sometimes its not like I have eczema or anything, but the lotions I use don't really keep the moisture in for long so it just goes dry.

  6. Sorry for the late reply. A good moisturiser would be Pure Kukui nut oil and also Shea butter, mixing the two together will make a great daily moisturiser. Kukui Nut oil quickly penetrates the skin leaving a silky-smooth non-greasy feeling. It is often used for dry or damaged skin, immediately relieving symptoms because of its quick absorption into the skin. Shea butter replenish skin moisture and protects from UV rays. I hope this helps.
